Why don’t pest control companies list their prices online?
That’s a good question, right? The short answer is, it’s all about money. Most pest control companies in the Treasure Valley and nationally pay commissions to either their techs or salespeople for acquiring new business. This practice results in some customers paying more than others. We never liked that business model. Why not offer every potential customer the same low price for consistent, reliable service? As a customer, I personally want to know what I’m being charged before I show interest in a service. We figure our customers would like to have clear pricing as well. We list our low prices online for the whole world to see, and our competitors love it (*hint of sarcasm). Our online prices beat all BIG national pest control franchises, and are lower than many locally-owned pest control businesses as well.
The industry “norm” is to entice customers enough for them to call the pest control business OR to have a pest control representative (a.k.a. salesman) dispatched to your home for an onsite estimate. This salesman’s goal is to earn his/her commission. Some customers are better negotiators than others, which results in some customers paying more than other customers. We decided to leave the negotiating to the hostage negotiators. Our expertise is in professional pest management J.
*Note. Our prices online are based on homes 3500 sq. ft. and smaller. We granulate in landscape grass up to 15 ft. around the perimeter of the home to protect the lawn from insect invaders (the average yard isn’t deeper than 15 ft.). Additional charges apply to service larger homes and/or yards.
How many treatments will it take to control my problem?
This is a hard one to answer. Sometimes a one-time service does do the trick. Most of the time, however, the only way to ensure long-term control of pests is an annual service plan.
Annual service plans give customers unlimited access to repeat visits and our satisfaction guarantee. If we can’t solve the problem the first time, customers with an annual protection plan can have us re-service their homes until we control the targeted pest. But for those customers who prefer a one-time service, we can offer those as well.
Single services and ants. With most ants, success from a single visit is possible. Success from a single visit can be achieved only when the nests can be located. If the nest can be located, it improves the chances of success drastically.
How do your one-time treatments work?
We offer one-time treatments for customers not looking for extended control. For most insects, we do feel that our annual program is the best option, but if you want to try us out first, we’d be happy to help. Most services either cost $120 for most insects or $150 for fleas and bedbugs (see pricing details). Choosing a one-time service also allows the customer to have discounted retreatment services if a re-service is requested within 45 days of the initial treatment. Many retreatments only cost $50 (see pricing details).
What is involved in your treatment?
All treatments include exterior and interior applications (interior upon request) excluding bed bug and flea treatments.
Generally, this is our average treatment.
Exterior treatment:
1st We dust off all home webs around the home and surrounding areas.
2nd We apply spray treatment on wasp nests if found on the property.
3rd We apply a 3×5 ft. barrier around the entire home. 3 ft. out around the entire foundation and 5 ft. up the exterior of the home. This creates barriers around your entire home and garage. We spray around exterior lighting, under eaves, in planters, and around bushes. We spray the entire fence line. We granulate landscape grass up to 15 ft. around the perimeter of the home to protect the lawn from insect invaders (the average yard isn’t deeper than 15 ft.). Additional charges apply for service to larger homes and/or yards.
*Yards with rodents or voles receive additional care each visit as needed.
Interior treatment:
1st We apply spray treatment inside the home upon request.
2nd Dust garage.
3rd We apply spray treatment inside the garage.
4th We leave sticky traps inside the garage to monitor insect activity.
*Garages/ homes with rodent activity receive additional care each visit as needed.
*Bed bug and flea treatments require an additional $50 if the customer wishes to add exterior treatment of the home to be sprayed as well.
What does the annual protection plan cover?
What our annual plan includes:
Our annual protection plan is pretty straightforward. We exterminate all insects with the exception of termites. For $85 every 3 months (plus the initial fee) Boise Pest Control will protect your home from spiders, ants, earwigs, wasps, hornets, mice, voles, and more. This includes free re-services in between scheduled visits.
Our plan doesn’t include wildlife trapping of feral animals like squirrels, skunks, raccoons, snakes, dogs, cats, and bats. Generally, if it could have rabies, we refer the problem to one of several local wildlife trappers we work with.
What is an initial service?
Initial service is the 1st visit we perform for annual protection plan customers. In the first year of service, we require customers to have an initial service that usually takes about an hour. It’s a thorough interior/ exterior treatment where we treat the entire home.
If I have had continual service with another company, do I still need an initial service?
Yes, you’ll still need an initial. The reason is simple. Unfortunately, there are more mediocre pest control companies than there are good ones. Initial visits are when our PMPs (Pest Management Professionals) seal up entry points for rodents and insects. We stand by our treatments and can only guarantee our own work, not the work of other companies. You’ll notice the Boise Pest Control difference as we address potential problems in the crawlspace, interior, and exterior spaces of your home.
Are your products safe/eco-friendly?
Not everyone loves the idea of insecticides in or around their homes, but when used properly, they can be safe and effective. All of our products are approved by the Dept. of Agriculture and are registered with the EPA. We also offer green/organic insecticides upon request but are generally less effective. Generally for our treatments, there is no need to leave your home during or after our treatments. The only exception is, if you have chemical-sensitive individuals or animals in the home, it may be a good idea to leave during treatments. We use a wide array of products to eradicate pests. Some of them are considered organic and green, while others are synthetic products. The synthetic products we use are a pyrethroid class of chemical, which the EPA has said “…exposures from the many current uses of pyrethrins and pyrethroid insecticides do not pose risk concerns for children or adults (click the link for more info). Most products dry within an hour on the interior and 30 minutes on the exterior.
Ant treatment covers all types of ants.
Bees are endangered so we no longer exterminate them.
Bed bug and flea treatments are not included in the annual protection plan and require additional attention to eradicate. Customers requesting this service will receive a pre-treatment plan including a checklist to follow to increase the likelihood of eradicating these prolific and sneaky pests.
Crawlspace cleanings. Mice can destroy your peace of mind, and they can destroy your clean crawlspace. We usually perform crawlspace cleanings for customers who are selling their homes. Home inspectors will take note of rodent infestations and that’s when we enter the scene to remediate the problem.
Rodent jobs require a $120 initial service visit (which differs from the regular $65 initial service.)
